A Bridge of Friendship: Seoul and Tehran
Teheran-ro is a 10-lane boulevard running through the heart of Gangnam district.
In June 1977, to celebrate the sister-city ties, the Mayor of Seoul and the Mayor of Tehran, Iran (Gholamreza Nikpey), agreed to name streets after each other's cities. Consequently, Seoul's 'Samneung-ro' was renamed 'Teheran-ro', and a **'Seoul Street'** was designated in Tehran.
Today, Teheran-ro is known as **'Teheran Valley'**, a bustling center of finance and technology, densely packed with IT companies and corporate headquarters, symbolizing Korea's rapid economic growth.
